Shea Butter is a solid fatty oil extracted from the nuts on a tree, known as Mangifolia, that grows in the semi-arid savannah regions of West and Central Africa. The fruit of these trees contain a nut which is dried and ground. The powder is then boiled in water to release an unctuous substance which rises to the top and solidifies to create Shea Butter. This butter has been used for centuries in Africa to moisturise and protect the skin from sun, wind, heat and salt water.
